Someone recently asked me, “what’s that word you say at the end of the yoga class?” And they might not be the only one wondering. That word is Namaste, a beautiful Sanskrit greeting with deep meaning. Namaste is a respectful and spiritual way of saying,
the divine in me honours and bows to the divine in you
We usually say it with hands together in a prayer position at the heart-centre. Sometimes we gently bring our hands from the third eye (the space between the eyebrows) down to the heart-centre, especially when acknowledging our teacher. Whilst it’s most commonly said at the end of class, Namaste is equally appropriate to use at the beginning too.
